The Classical Theatre of Harlem: Five Year Plan
With ample experience in interpersonal management and institutional visioning, we were brought on to lead the development of a 5 year Strategic Plan for the Classical Theatre of Harlem. We assisted in obtaining funding for services from the J.L.Greene Foundation.
Phases of Development
- Established Strategic Plan Committee
- Discovery
- We condensed and integrated existing data from stakeholder interviews of Board, Community Leaders, and Staff and conducted an additional 20 interviews.
- 2 Day Board Retreat
- Reviewed Artistic Vision, Governance, Education, Finance, Development, Marketing, Community, and Infrastructure.
- Addressed succession, year-round programming (production vs. presenting), Board Committee Structure and building an advisory board, endowment, brand identity, and production infrastructure.
- Strategic Plan Draft
- The plan included Strategic Priority Areas, an Implementation Plan, costs and projected income.
- Occupancy of the Harlem Classical Arts Complex was a key galvanizing point of commitment for the future.
Securing the base for future expansion
We supported CTH Leadership in clarifying that short-term stabilization would be key to realizing its dream to build the Harlem Classical Arts Complex by developing its board, staff, education programs, and resources while innovating opportunities for brand value and expression. The CTH brand stood out as an asset of establishing community permanence that is sustainable and evergreen to help achieve its future goals.
